TITANITE (SPHENE)

 

"Sphene" comes from Greek "Sphenos" which means "wedge". This name is due to the way this mineral forms.

Sphene is a name in disuse but is still used in gemology and jewelry.

The name titanite comes from this mineral being a silicate of titanium and calcium.

It can be translucent to transparent and reddish brown, gray, yellow, green or red in color. Properly carved, it has a superior capacity to diamonds in terms of reflecting rays of light.

Gem that calms and stimulates the spirit, it facilitates thinking more clearly and encourages creativity while protecting from negative energies.
